Will Samsung's painful finger Choi Chae-heung be a successful FA reward player…Memories of the first Jamsil game after being discharged from the military

LG's choice was left-hander Choi Chae-heung.

LG said on the 13th, "We appointed Choi Chae-heung as a compensation player for Choi Won-tae, who transferred to Samsung after becoming a free agent."

The club said, "Choi Chae-heung has sufficient potential, and he is a player who proved his ability by winning 11 games as a starting pitcher in 2020," adding, "I expect to be able to find his career high in 2020, and if he finds himself, he will be able to take charge of the team's domestic starting position as a young player."

LG received a 20-man protected list from Samsung on the 10th. There were predictions that veteran Oh Seung-hwan would be excluded from the process of forming the list, but Samsung said in a rare move, "I will include Oh on the protected list."

The list received was not much different from LG's expectations. Immediately, he was agonizing over whether to place more emphasis on the future or the sense of power, before opting for Choi.

Choi Chae-heung will now move to Jamsil Stadium.

After graduating from Sangwon High School in Daegu, Choi joined Samsung through the first round of nominations in 2018, and his team's expectations were high. Choi, who took the mound in the first division game against Nexen on May 19, 2018, allowed eight hits, one walk, two strikeouts and two runs (one earned run) in 3.2 innings as a starting pitcher. Choi, who won his first start win by allowing two runs in five innings against NC on June 2, the next game, ended the season with four wins and one loss and an earned run average of 3.21.

In the following year, he went between selection and relief, recording a record of 6 wins, 6 losses and 2 holds with a 4.81 ERA in 28 games.

The 2020 season was a season when career highs were achieved. He recorded 11 wins and 6 losses and an earned run average of 3.58 in 26 games. On Sept. 13 of that year, he pitched nine scoreless innings in the match against LG Twins in Jamsil, and achieved his first complete game and shutout victory.

However, in the 2021 season, he slowed down to five wins, nine losses and two holds with an ERA of 4.56, before joining the military. In 2022, his first year at Sangmu, he recorded seven wins, no losses and an ERA of 1.79 at the Futures League, and this year, he posted a 1-1 record and 5.40 ERA in five games.

After struggling to start the 2023 season, Samsung eagerly looked forward to Choi's return. And Choi immediately started the game against LG on June 13. He added 5.1 innings without allowing a single goal, raising hope.

However, Choi failed to continue his pitching and was eliminated from the entry list once. At the match against KIA on Aug. 19, the first game after his return, he had a quality start by allowing two runs in six innings, before displaying poor performance again. He failed to give trust due to his control and performance. Eventually, Choi was left unfinished again.

Having transitioned to a bullpen session this season, Choi has even been listed in the playoff and Korean Series entries. Samsung, which lacked left-handers, tried to take advantage of Choi. Choi had a chance to take the mound at the Korean Series and allowed two runs in 1.2 innings, which was regrettable.

After the season, Choi was scheduled to be dispatched to the Australian League. Kim Dae-ho and Yuk Seon-yeop were scheduled to join the team in the first half, while Choi and Lee Ho-seong were scheduled to join the team in the second half. However, they were not included in the protected list and were selected by LG.

LG has a plan to use it as a starter, but it also has some potential as a bullpen. It is because it lacks left-handers.

For Choi, he should recall his pitching against LG at Jamsil Stadium after being discharged from the military. Choi also performed fairly well at Jamsil Stadium. He allowed 36 runs (31 earned runs) and an earned run average of 3.62 in 77 innings in 18 games. 메이저놀이터

Jamsil Baseball Stadium is a pitcher-friendly place. On the contrary, Choi, who played for the Samsung Lions Park in Daegu, which used to be batter-friendly, may find stability at Jamsil Stadium.

It is also the last chance for Choi. As he failed to keep being labeled as a promising player at Samsung, he should display his skills and capabilities properly at LG.
